Video has become an increasingly popular medium for businesses to communicate with their customers and employees. Use of popular social media video trends, like those found on TikTok and Instagram, can be a great way to engage with your audience and show them that your business is up-to-date and in touch with what's popular. Here are some tips on how to use popular video trends for corporate videos:

Choose trends that fit your brand

*Lego Gif

Not all social media video trends will be a good fit for your business. Look for trends that align with your brand's values and image. For example, if you're a luxury fashion brand, your videos should probably have a different feel than a company that sells toys (like Lego, shown above).

Use animation and motion graphics

*Evian

Modern videos harness the power of creative visuals, and animation and motion graphics can be a great way to bring your corporate message to life (ex: Evian). Whether you're explaining a complex concept or simply highlighting the benefits of your product or service, animation and motion graphics can help to make your video more engaging and easy to understand.

Include user-generated content

*Purple

User-generated content, such as testimonials or reviews from customers, can add authenticity and credibility to your corporate videos. By including customer stories (like Purple, shown above), you allow viewers to see real people using and benefiting from your product or service. Just make sure you always obtain consent.

Embrace a casual vibe

*BodyBuilding.com

There has been a move away from perfection on social media in recent years. Less polished content can contribute to authenticity and relatability when used on the right platforms (ex: BodyBuilding.com), but realize that less polished does not necessarily mean lower quality.   Your audience will be able to distinguish between a video with a more casual tone and one that is poorly produced.   Consider the platform, audience, and topic to determine what level of finish on your video is appropriate.

Leverage the power of storytelling

*Volvo

Storytelling is a powerful way to engage viewers and convey your message. Consider using storytelling techniques, such as using characters or creating a narrative arc, to make your corporate videos more compelling (ex: Volvo).

Be thoughtful when using memes

*Zomato

There isn’t much that is more popular than a current meme. Memes, by nature, are fast-moving and evolving. Anytime you incorporate a meme into a video, you must ensure that the video is posted without delay, or you might miss the train. But you must also stay vigilant to potential undertones that are inappropriate for your brand. If you do not fully understand the meme, you could do more harm than good for your reputation. (Ex: Zomato)

Optimize for mobile viewing

With more and more people accessing video content on their mobile devices through social media apps, it's important to optimize your corporate videos for mobile viewing when posting on a platform that is primarily accessed by phones. This means using a format that is compatible with that platform (and having multiple size versions of the same video), as well as ensuring that the video is fast and easy to watch on a smaller screen. (Ex: JD Glow Cosmetics)

By using popular video trends, you can create corporate videos that are engaging, effective, and tailored to your audience. Whether you're looking to explain a complex concept, showcase your company's culture, or simply deliver a message, using video is a powerful way to get your message across.
